Issues & Policy

The Copyright Alliance represents the copyright interests of our individual creator and organization members before lawmakers, government agencies, the U.S. Copyright Office, courts, and other policymakers and stakeholders. The copyright issues and policy initiatives that we address are vital to the creative community and critical to creators looking to protect their creative works.

In advancing our mission of advocating for copyright policies that promote and preserve the value of copyright and protect the rights of creators and innovators, we regularly: (1) file amicus briefs to educate and inform courts on how the court’s decision and interpretation of the law could affect the copyright community and copyright law more broadly; (2) testify and submit formal written statements to help educate and inform Congress on important policy implications involved when considering potential changes to copyright law; and (3) testify and submit formal written comments to federal government agencies and the U.S. Copyright Office on different aspects of copyright law or the copyright system that may affect the creative community. Our views on copyright issues can be found on the pages that follow in this section.
