On February 26, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) published a request for comments in the Federal Register on the risks, benefits, and potential policy related to AI models with publicly available model weights that allow developers to build upon and adapt previous AI models. Based on the comments, NTIA plans to submit a report to the President. Comments are due March 27. More information is available here.
