WALA Event on AI & Artists

October 19 @ 6:30 pm 8:00 pm EDT

The Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts (WALA)—in collaboration with the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts, Del Ray Artisans, the Institute for Creativity, Arts and Technology at Virginia Tech, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and Pantheon AI—will host a panel event to help artists understand how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the landscape across all industries, including the arts. Questions that will be explored include whether artists and creators should embrace AI or reject it; whether AI is a threat to creative ownership; and much more. Three experts in the field of arts and technology, patents, and copyright, will speak and answer questions. The event will be moderated by Phyllis Serbes of Pantheon AI. Immediately following the discussion, there will be a performance by the Laptop Orchestra in Waterfront Park in Alexandria, VA.
