Copyright Alliance Announces Newest At-Large Board Members

Washington, DC—The Copyright Alliance is pleased to announce two At-Large Board Members whose terms commenced on January 1, 2026: Kim Alton, Senior Director of Advocacy & Public Policy at the Recording Academy, has been elected to the Copyright Alliance Board as the newest At-Large Board Member; and Shannon Sorensen, SVP, Legal and Business Affairs at the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA), has been re-elected to serve on the Board.
In her statement about serving on the board, Kim stated, “I am sincerely honored to have been elected to the Copyright Alliance Board of Directors. The Copyright Alliance’s mission is more important than ever in today’s evolving policy landscape. As a new Board Member, I look forward to working with our diverse membership in support of strong copyright policies and laws that respect the rights of music makers and all creators.”
In her statement about being re-elected to the board, Shannon noted, “I’m honored to have been re-elected to the Copyright Alliance Board. This organization is an important voice for creators and copyright owners and does an excellent job of advocating for the shared interests of various creative industries. I appreciate the opportunity to help further the cause of creators through my service on the Board.”
According to Copyright Alliance CEO Keith Kupferschmid, “I look forward to working with Kim and to continue working with Shannon—both of whom have long been involved with an array of important copyright-related initiatives that are critical to our community.
