Copyright Alliance Extends Condolences on the Passing of Richard M. Bates

Washington, DC — Today, Copyright Alliance CEO Keith Kupferschmid issued the following statement regarding the recent passing of Richard M. Bates, Senior Vice President, Government Relations at the Walt Disney Company:

“I am saddened by the recent and sudden passing of Richard and, on behalf of everyone at the Copyright Alliance, I extend our sincerest condolences to his friends, colleagues, and family — especially to his wife Rose and sons Ricky and Chris.

“Richard was one of the most knowledgeable and passionate advocates within the creative community and for the Walt Disney Company. He was respected throughout Washington, DC and beyond and well known for his tremendous support, kindness and generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and worked with him.”
