Washington, DC—Today, Copyright Alliance CEO Keith Kupferschmid issued the following statement regarding ByteDance’s release of Seedance 2.0:
According to Kupferschmid, “Chinese tech giant ByteDance’s decision to release its generative AI video service, Seedance 2.0, with zero copyright guardrails has flooded the internet with infringing videos and must stop immediately.
“The U.S. creative economy is the envy of the world, contributing more than $2 trillion of GDP, employing almost 11.6 million Americans, and accounting for $272.6 billion in annual overseas sales—and it is the source of tremendous soft power driven by the export of American culture and values around the world.
“The theft of the works of America’s creators by foreign bad actors is a threat to our nation’s creators and our global leadership in creativity and responsible AI innovation and must not be tolerated.”
