Film & TV Industry Leaders Join Reps. Judy Chu and Doug Collins for “Beyond the Red Carpet: Movie and TV Magic Day” Capitol Hill Event

Washington, D.C. On Thursday, November 14, Creative Rights Caucus Co-Chairs Representative Judy Chu and Representative Doug Collins, along with leaders from the motion picture industry, will host “Beyond the Red Carpet: Movie & TV Magic Day.” Taking place on Capitol Hill, the event will feature a series of trade booths and live demonstrations, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creativity, talent, and innovation at the core of the American film and television industry, which supports over 2.6 million jobs in all 50 states.

WHAT: Beyond the Red Carpet: Movie and TV Magic Day

The exhibit spaces will include the opportunity to talk to award-winning producer Wendy Finerman and take a photo with her Best Picture Oscar¨ from Forrest Gump; watch Emmy¨ award-winning makeup effects artists creating an alien; take a photo with the Captain America shield and Thor’s hammer as seen in Avengers: Endgame; the Copyright Alliance and Veterans in Media and Entertainment will showcase how they support the creative economy; enjoy a luxury movie theater experience; walk across a highwire in 1970s New York or swing through Manhattan as Spider-Man in two stunning virtual reality experiences; act in a scene from The West Wing with show alumni from the Directors Guild and SAG-AFTRA; view iconic costumes from Downton Abbey and take a Downton-themed photo with props and costumes; the opportunity to take photos with original props from Paramount Pictures’ hit franchise Star Trek and talk to Prop Archivist and Key Costume Person Randall Thropp; see where satire meets design with Documentary Now!’s Emmy¨ award-winning costume designer.
