March 27, 2019

Washington, D.C. Today, the Copyright Alliance released a statement commending the appointment of Karyn A. Temple as the next Register of Copyrights.

According to Copyright Alliance CEO Keith Kupferschmid, “On behalf of the Copyright Alliance and the rest of the copyright community, we commend Dr. Hayden’s elevation of Karyn Temple to Register of Copyrights, acknowledging her outstanding work over the last two and a half years as Acting Register, as well as her overall service to the U.S. Copyright Office since 2011.

“During Register Temple’s tenure at the Copyright Office as Director of Policy and International Affairs, Associate Register of Copyrights, and (most recently) Acting Register of Copyrights  she has demonstrated a thoughtful approach to copyright policy and to Office management overall.

“As critical efforts to fully modernize the Office’s systems and processes continue, permanent leadership is essential to its success. Based on her strong contributions and leadership as Acting Register during the past two and a half years, there is no doubt that Register Temple is the right person to bring the Office into the 21st century.

“The Copyright Alliance and our members congratulate Register Temple, and we are thrilled she will continue her work at the Copyright Office as the Register. We look forward to continuing our partnership with her and her excellent staff in support of copyright and creativity across the country.”
