The California Copyright Conference and the Guild of Music Supervisors will host a panel titled Under the Covers: The Business of Licensing Remakes to provide “a behind the scenes look at using a cover song for a synch.” More specifically, panel speakers will discuss “examples of songs used by leading music supervisors and creative licensing executives, and discuss the various issues involved in creating and using covers [while they] explore how such works are used in television, commercials, promos, and trailers.” The panel will also address the challenges faced by creative and licensing executives when using a cover.
