On October 5, the U.S. Department of Commerce published a Federal Register Notrice calling for nominations for candidates to serve on the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee (NAIAC), which will be established per the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Act of 2020. Establishment of the NAIAC will enable “[committee] members [to] have the unique opportunity to advise and make recommendations to the President and the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Office on matters such as the state of U.S. competitiveness and leadership in [Artificial Intelligence], as well as opportunities for international cooperation with strategic allies on globally important AI issues.” The USPTO encourages submitting a self or third-party nomination to serve on the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee. The deadline for submitting nominations is October 25 at 5 p.m. ET.
