USPTO: AI/ET Inaugural Meeting

On June 7, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USTPO) published a notice of meetings in the Federal Register, announcing a series of meetings to explore USPTO initiatives related to artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies (ET), including IP policy issues impacted by AI and ET. During the inaugural meeting, remarks will be shared by Kathi Vidal, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and USPTO Director, and Lynn Parker, Director of the National AI Initiative, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Discussion topics include: “Subject Matter Eligibility and the Impact on AI/ET Innovation”; “Inventorship and the Advent of Machine-generated Inventions”; and “Disclosure and AI/ET Inventions.” Speakers will also explore data from patent filings and discuss how they inform innovation trends in these critical technology areas.
