Washington, DC—The Copyright Alliance, which represents the copyright interests of over two million individual creators and more than 15,000 organizations across the spectrum of copyright disciplines, released a statement in support of Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and NBCUniversal (NBCU), which are waging a suit against MiniMax, a $4 billion Chinese AI company that is rampantly infringing their IP in a willful manner.
According to Copyright Alliance CEO Keith Kupferschmid, “The Copyright Alliance applauds the September 16 action by Disney, NBCU, and Warner Bros. Discovery to hold AI companies accountable for infringement of their creative works. This action against an infringing Chinese AI service will help to make clear that AI services that do business in the U.S. are subject to the same standards for IP protection regardless of where they are based.
“Strong intellectual property protections are a foundation for a strong America, and failing to defend them against bad actors threatens America’s place as the world’s strongest and most dominant creative economy.”
