Copyright Alliance Commends Senate on Today’s Unanimous PassageÊof Music Modernization Act
Washington, D.C.ÊÐ Following the Senate’s unanimous passageÊof theÊMusic Modernization Act today, Copyright Alliance CEO Keith Kupferschmid initiated the following statement:
“We commend the U.S. Senate for unanimously passingÊH.R. 1551,Êthe Orrin G. Hatch Music Modernization Act, a bipartisan bill cosponsored by more than 80 Senators. The 185 page bill updates the music licensing system and brings it into the digital age, ensuring that music creators across the industry will get paid more equitably for their hard work and creativity.
Today’s actions by the Senate demonstrate unprecedented bipartisan support amongst a diversity of stakeholders and industries. We extend our appreciation to Senators Hatch, Grassley, Feinstein, Alexander, Coons, Kennedy and Whitehouse, as well as to all cosponsors and Senators for their support of this critical legislation.”
