Jared Geller | Executive Producer – HitRecord
Jared Geller serves as the Executive Producer for HITRECORD, the open-collaborative production company founded by actor and director Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Since 2010, HITRECORD has developed into an innovative creative community made up of over 600,000 artists from all over the world, and growing all the time. HITRECORD has produced art and media in all kinds of creative formats, including television, live events, short films, books, music, and more. HITRECORD has shown work at the Sundance Film Festival (Official Selection 2010, 2012 & 2013), and toured live shows at dozens of sold-out venues across North America. Before teaming up with Gordon-Levitt on HITRECORD, Mr. Geller enjoyed a ten-year long career in New York theater. His production of Slava’s Snowshow ran for over one-thousand performances downtown before earning a Tony nomination for its run on Broadway. Mr. Miron is the leading creative force at MVH CREATIVEWORKS.
Since 2003, Mr. Miron has been directing and producing commercials, music videos, promos and other short form content. Mr. Miron directed many projects for major companies with well known talent, including international campaigns for Orogold Cosmetics featuring Denise Richards (“Wild Things”, “James Bond”) and Brian Austin Green (“90210”, “Anger Management”), commercials for Vine Vera Skin Care featuring actress/model Gal Gadot (“Fast and Furious”, “Wonder Woman”), a branding campaign for the shaving brand Defender featuring UFC announcer Bruce Buffer, a virtual reality experience for Universal Pictures featuring Tom Cruise, Facebook’s 360 video lab featuring numerous online talent, YouTube’s launch videos of their 360 platform featuring Snoop Dogg, a virtual reality cooking series for Facebook featuring world famous chefs Gordon Ramsay and Wolfgang Puck and many more.
In the last couple of years Mr. Miron has been directing virtual reality content for the immersive entertainment company Surreal. He worked on content for the Oscars, The Golden Globes, The PGA Pro-Am at Pebble Beach, The Grammy Awards, Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, The Primetime Emmy Awards and many more. Most recently, he won the Real-Time Academy’s 9th Annual Shorty Award for Best 360 Video for the production of the 68th Emmy Awards in 360, together with host Jimmy Kimmel and Executive Producer for the Emmy’s Don Mischer.
Destin Sandlin | Smarter Every Day
Destin Sandlin, born in 1981, is an American engineer best known for his educational video series, Smarter Every Day (SED), which is hosted on a YouTube channel of the same name launched in 2007.
Sandlin’s YouTube channel boasts over four million subscribers, and over 300 million views. In early 2016, Sandlin was one of four YouTube personalities chosen to conduct a one-on-one interview with President Obama after his final State of the Union address. The interviews were sponsored by Google and were part of a White House initiative to reach millennial audiences.
On April 28, 2016 Sandlin started a second YouTube channel called The Sound Traveler, in which he employs 3-D audio and Go-Pro footage to capture and convey the experience of visiting the world’s most interesting places. Destin also has a podcast called “No Dumb Questions.”
Anne H. Hocking | Partner, Donahue Fitzgerald LLP
Anne Hocking provides clients advice on copyright registration, recordal, international protection of copyright, fair use and DMCA procedures. In 2016 she won a six figure settlement against a Hollywood star and a major publishing house for infringement of her client’s book within 3 weeks of filing suit. She prosecutes numerous infringements across various platforms. She uses copyright along with trade dress protection for her fashion clients.
An Adjunct Professor of copyright and trademark law for nearly 30 years, she also speaks and writes on copyright and trademark developments. Her most recent copyright presentation was on fair use, focusing on the Madonna sampling and Blurred Lines copyright infringement cases and a trademark article on trade dress protection for footwear based on the international Louboutin enforcement of its “red soles” trademark. She litigates trademark infringements in the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and federal District Court, winning a six figure settlement agreement in a trademark infringement action, along with cancellation of the opponent’s mark.
Vivian S. Lee | Senior Counsel, Litigation – 21st Century Fox
Vivian is Senior Counsel in 21st Century Fox’s General Litigation department, which is responsible for managing litigation and supervising outside counsel for various divisions of 21st Century Fox in all areas of commercial and entertainment law (including First Amendment, copyright, idea submission, patent, contract, antitrust, television and film development, production and distribution, syndication, film finance, profit participation, and related issues). Prior to joining Fox, Vivian served as a judicial law clerk at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and as an associate, first at a national firm and then a boutique firm, where she litigated intellectual property disputes and related matters. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California and her J.D. from Loyola Law School.
Frankin Graves | Corporate Counsel for Naxos Music Group
Franklin Graves is Corporate Counsel for Naxos Music Group where he provides in-depth and wide-ranging legal guidance to a global media/technology company with over 300 employees across more than a dozen regional offices around the world. He’s a Young Lawyer Fellow for the American Bar Association’s Section of Intellectual Property Law and recently received an “Outstanding Leadership Contribution Award.” Franklin earned his J.D. degree, with an Entertainment & Music Business Law certificate, from Belmont University College of Law in Nashville, TN, and his B.A. degree from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. In his spare time, Franklin is a YouTuber and runs a channel focused on sharing career and professional branding advice with law students and lawyers.
