COPYRIGHT ALLIANCE ASKS TRUMP TO STRENGTHEN PROTECTIONS — The Copyright Alliance, an advocacy group representing content creators, is urging Trump to enhance protections against online piracy and steer clear of over-regulating royalties. “The prevalence of piracy in the internet age is a blight on the U.S. economy and culture,” the group writes in an open letter out this morning. “We hope you will support a strong and vibrant copyright system in the United States that protects copyright holders from online theft, and ensure that creators share in the massive profits being made by internet platforms from these copyrighted works.” The group also notes how Trump has made extensive use of copyright law to protect his business interests.
